Painters for Colbert Acreage, Fence Line Included

Colbert sits along the Highway 2 and Day-Mt Spokane Road corridors between Mead and Deer Park — larger lots, hobby farms, and properties where the nearest neighbor is a field away. We drive through it daily, which is the boring reason there is no travel line on a Colbert bid. The interesting part is what a rural property actually asks you to coat. A house, usually a detached garage, often a shop or a barn, and then the fencing, which is where the surprises live. Fence is a genuinely different job from siding for three reasons and each one costs money. It has two sides, so the area is double what people picture. It is in ground contact, so the posts are wicking moisture upward continuously in a way no wall ever does, and coatings fail at the base first and travel up. And the timber is usually rough-sawn rather than milled, which drinks far more material per square foot than smooth siding does. That combination is why fence is usually better stained than painted. A film-forming paint over ground-contact rough timber traps the moisture climbing the post and then peels from the bottom, which looks terrible and is miserable to prepare again. A penetrating stain lets the wood release moisture and fades rather than fails, so the next maintenance cycle is a wash and a recoat instead of a strip. It is less impressive on day one and considerably better in year six. The other Colbert variable is elevation. The higher ground toward North Colbert runs colder than the lower reaches, closer to Deer Park's calendar than Spokane's, which can shift the safe exterior window by a couple of weeks at either end of the season.
